New Patients

What can I expect during my first appointment?

At Renmore Dental, we are always delighted to welcome new patients to our practice. We understand that for some, visiting the dentist is not always associated with a pleasant experience – that’s what we hope to change, by ensuring that our patients have an exceptional experience with us from the moment they enter our practice right throughout their treatment journey.

10 Point Dental Examination

A new patient exam is a 30 minute appointment which involves a comprehensive 10-step oral health assessment. Digital photographs and digital x-rays may be taken if required. On completion of the examination, your dentist will discuss the findings and explain any dental issues discovered during the examination that need addressing.

A: Absolutely, we are always delighted to welcome new patients to our practice. To register as a new patient, simply contact us on 091 757 678, and a member of our patient care team will get you booked in for your new patient appointment. Please note this applies to those over 16 years of age, as we are currently not accepting any new patients under 16 years of age at the moment. For more information on the types of treatments that we offer, see our Treatments section.

A: Yes, patients who qualify under PRSI Treatment Benefit Scheme can avail of a dental examination at no charge, and a scale and polish appointment at a contribution of €15.00-€43.00, once per calendar year. If you are unsure whether or not you are eligible for treatment under PRSI, contact us today and we would be happy to check this for you.

Note: In order for us to check your PRSI eligibility for you, you must consent to providing your PPS number and date of birth over the phone. For more information on our privacy policy and data consent, click here.

A: Yes, we have plenty of onsite car parking spaces just outside the premises, as well as onsite bicycle racks.

A:  At Renmore Dental we do offer children’s appointments for existing patients, however we are currently not accepting any new patients under 16 years old at the moment.

A: Yes, at Renmore Dental priority is given to cases of emergency, and our patient care team will always try their absolute best to accommodate patients in an emergency situation. However please note this is subject to availability,  and we do not operate a walk-in emergency service. We would advise contacting the practice as early in the morning as possible, so that we can accommodate you as soon as we can. For more information on emergency appointments, click here.

A: If you have fractured your tooth, call us to organise an appointment as soon as possible. Depending on the size of the fracture, the dentist should be able to add a small piece of white composite filling in order to restore the tooth shape. However, this may only provide a temporary solution, and the tooth may eventually need a crown in order to protect it long-term.
A: Time is of the essence with this type of injury. Every effort should be made to retrieve the tooth and provided it is clean, re-insert the tooth into the socket in its original position and immediately attend our practice. If this is not possible, place the tooth in cold milk and attend the practice as soon as possible. Please note that this applies to adult teeth only, and we do not recommend the reinsertion of baby teeth.
A: If you have lost a filling, ensure to call us as soon as possible to arrange to have it replaced. If your filling has loosened but has not fully dislodged from the tooth, ensure to remove it from the mouth to avoid accidentally swallowing it. Until it is replaced, ensure to avoid chewing on the affected side of the mouth, and brush your teeth gently. In the event that you cannot attend the dentist immediately, temporary filling material kits are available from your local pharmacy, however this is only a short-term solution.
A: A facial swelling can be a potentially serious emergency if left unattended. We recommend attending our practice as soon as possible. The clinician may have to prescribe a course of antibiotics in order to reduce the swelling. If you are experiencing any breathing difficulties due to the size or location of a swelling, go straight to the nearest accident and emergency department.
A: If your crown has dislodged, ensure to remove it from the mouth to avoid accidentally swallowing it, and attend our practice as soon as possible with the crown. In the event that you cannot attend the dentist immediately, temporary cement kits can be purchased from your local pharmacy, however these are only a short-term solution.
